Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc said the government issued 1,325 licenses to the approved recruiting agencies for encouraging the private sector.
“Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) has been sending workers abroad for overseas employment and licenses are being issued to the approved recruiting agencies on condition fees and security deposit,” he said this on Tuesday while replying to a question from treasury bench member AKM Rahmatullah.
The minister said the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has been working in rural areas in the country to generate employment, adding, “There is no scope for sending workers abroad through the PKSF.”
But the PKSF could collect information of workers interested to go abroad at their own areas for putting into the BMET’s database, Nurul Islam BSc informed the House.
