A total of 13 shops and business concerns were sued by Pure Food Court conducted by Senior Judicial Magistrate in Chandpur town for allegedly unhealthy environment and lack of cleanliness, selling food items at high rate, refixing the prices of items by tampering, and also for running their business without any valid papers of BSTI.
Of the 13 cases, five were sued on Tuesday afternoon in a Mobile Court led by Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Kamal Hossain.
The sued business concerns are -Cafe Jhil Hotel, Grand City, Hotel Al Aarafa, Hotel Aroma, and Pick&Pay Departmental Store at Bus Stand Foysol Market. The cases were filed under Sec 21 of BSTI 2018 Act-2018.
Besides, Hotel Taaj, Hotel Al Imran, and a few other trading shops were warned. BSTI Cumilla’s Inspector Anisur Rahman, BSTI Cumilla’s Field Officer Shahidul Islam, Model Thana and Court’s Police men assisted the Mobile Court.
Earlier on Monday afternoon from 4 pm till 8 pm, the same Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Kamal Hossain, in another Mobile Court , eight regular cases were filed against eight shops and business concerns in the town on charge of selling sub standard goods and food items at high rate, under dirty environment, having no BSTI license, refixing prices of items by tampering.
District Sanitary Inspector SM Saifuddin has said, on charge of various irregularities, eight shops and business concerns were sued. The sued eight shops and trading concerns are Elite Chinese Restaurant & Community Centre, Riyad Sore , Sikder Store, Mahin Store, Mamun Store, BIWTA Canteen, Selim Hotel-all at Chandpur Launchghat. The owners of these trading have been shops directed to appear before the court on 3 December and the owner of Bhuiyan Big Bazar at Kalibari area in the town has been directed to appear before the court on 7thDecember. During the drive some goods and commodities were seized. District Sanitary InspectorSM Saifuddin , Food Inspector Md Nasiruddin, Environment Directorate’s Asstt Director Najim Hossain Sheikh, Sadar Model Thana Police men assisted the court.
