13 lower court judges 26 staff infected With Covid-19

A total of 13 judges and 26 other officials of lower courts across the country tested positive the Covid-19 virus till Tuesday, said a statement of the Supreme Court.
Md Saifur Rahman, spokesperson of the Supreme Court and also a special officer of the High Court division, issued the statement saying that the judges and the staff members were infected while performing duties in the virtual courts.
Meanwhile, four other lower court judges with Covid-19 symptoms are receiving treatment in isolation, also read the statement. Among the infected judges, District Judge of Netrakona Shahjahan Kabir and Chief Judicial Magistrate of Munshiganj Begum Rokeya Rahman have already recovered from Covid-19 virus and joined their services.
Ferdous Ahmed, judge of Nari O Shishu Nirjaton Daman Tribunal in Lalmonirhat, has been admitted to the intensive care unit of Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka. He has also been given plasma therapy as well.
Begum Shamim Ahmed, judge of Special Judge Court-8 in Dhaka, has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Nine other judges who are receiving treatment at their respective residences are Kiron Shangkar Halder, Judge of Nari O Shishu Nirjaton Daman Tribunal in Kishoreganj, Rustom Ali, Judge of Nari O Shishu Nirjaton Daman Tribunal in Joypurhat, S Mohammad Ali, Deputy Secretary (District Judge) in law ministry, Md Tayob Ali, Judge of the land survey Traibunal in Kurigram, Begum Regmin Sultana, Special Magistrate in DPDC-2, Md Mehedi Hassan, Assistant Judge in Netrokona, Shiplu Kumar Dey, Senior Judicial Magistrate in Chattogram, Abu Saleh Mohammad Noman, Metropolitan Magistrate in Chattogram and Md Nizam Uddin, Judicail Magistrate in Noakhali.
The other infected staff members are also receiving treatment at their respective residences, according to the statement.
Two separate committees have recently been formed to take steps to ensure treatment of the judges of the Appellate and High Court divisions of the Supreme Court and judges of the subordinate courts across the country.
