At least 13 people including five police became injured in clash with illegal occupants over eviction drive of Barisal City Corporation at Kawnia BSCIC area on Thursday afternoon.
Tensed situation prevailing in the area till filing the report. Huge police deployed to control the deterioration of the situation.
Md. Habibur Rahman, deputy commissioner (N) of Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP) said police shooting 113 rounds of rubber bullets to control the situation.
He said 13 including 5 policemen were injured in the clash and took first-aid from the police hospital and SBMCH. Police arrested five people from the spot and lodging of two separate cases were under process in this regards till this report.
Md. Salim Reza, officer in charge of Kawnia police station, said a team led by Imtiaz Mahmud, magistrate of BCC with help of police started drive to evict 118 illegal occupants at Kawnia BSCIC state area of the city about 3:00 PM Thursday.
