DU 'Ka' unit entry test: 13 get 2 yrs’ jail term for adopting unfair means

At least 13 students have been sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for adopting unlawful electronics devices during `Ka’ unit entry test of the Dhaka University (DU).
A mobile court on Friday sentenced the students for illegally using the electronic devices during the examinations, DU Proctor Amjad Ali told The New Nation.
He added: “Of the students, 12 were sentenced for using mobile phones, while one sentenced for using another electronic device illegally during the tests city’s different centres.”
The convicted are Al Imran who was arrested from IBA Building centre, Shovon and Nowrin from Eden Mohila College, Jahid Khan from New Model Degree College, Akash Khandakar from Siddheswari Girls College, Sadik Ahmed from Dhanmondi Ideal School and College, Abani Roy from Dhaka Mohanagor Mohila College, Sadman Yeasir from Motijheel Ideal School and College, Mahmudul Hasan Tareque from Badarunnesa Mohila College, Al Amin from Bhawni School, Ishtiaq Ahmed and Julkar Nayeik from Mohammadpur Central College and Sanchita Rani from Mohammadpur Model School.
They were receiving answers through the devices sent by some other persons during the tests.
The one and half hour-long examinations were held at 87 centres in the capital. A total of 90427 students took part in the examinations against 1745 seats.
