13 fishermen rescued by RAB in Sundarbans

A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) -8 rescued 13 fishermen from forest bandits in the Sundarbans on Wednesday night.
The rescued fishermen were later handed over to their guardians and relatives in presence of local elite, confirmed Atika Islam, additional DIG and CO of RAB-8.
The rescued 13 fishermen are: Alamgir Daktar, 50, Miraj Daktar, 28, Abdul Huq, 50, Mijan Akond, 35, Badsha Matubbar, 45, Jahangir Hawladar, 45, Saiful Islam Palash Mallik, 30, of Indurkani under Pirojpur district, Md. Jasim Khan, 20, from Patharghata under Barguna, Aktarul Gazi, 21,
Ekramul Biswas, 21, from Koira under Satkhira, Atiar from Paikgachha under Khulna, Kabujul Gazi, 17, and Yunus Sheikh, 26, from Morelganj under Bagerhat district.
RAB-8 sources said that about 50 fishermen were abducted by a gang of forest bandits, Sattar Bahini, on August 4, from Dubochar in between Fairway Buoy and Majhir Killa in the Dularchar area. The gang demanded ransom for their release.
On basis of secret information RAB-8 started massive operation from Wednesday afternoon to rescue the abducted victims.
When the miscreants assumed the presence of the RAB team near them, they fled away leaving the boat with fishermen behind. The elite force took them under their custody.
