Some 13 fishermen who were arrested from the Bay of Bengal on the charge of illegal intrusion in the water territory of Bangladesh and catching fish from there were released from Bagerhat District Jail on Thursday afternoon after they had been suffered an imprisonment for long three months and 20 days.
The released Indian fishermen are Mohon Das, Rubel Das, Bidhan Das, Avi Das, Hari Das, Rono Das, Mahadeb Das, Gauranga Das, Bisu Das, Sunil Das, Sujit Das, Joylal Das and Samrat Das. They all hail from 24 Pargona of the West Bengal State in India.
It was learnt from Manirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Mongla PS. He added coastguards of the Western Zone Deployed Mongla arrested those fishermen while they (fishermen) were catching fish illegally after crossing the water territory of Bangladesh on September 09 in the present calendar year and at that time the coastguards seized huge quantity of sea fish along with a fishing trawler named “FB. Pita-Matar Ashirbad”.
On the same day a case was lodged with Mongla PS and the arrested were sent to Bagerhat jail Hajat through the court. After suffering an imprisonment for 3 months 20 days they were released from Bagaerhat jail after maintaining the laws of the country and handed over to Manoj Kumar Pandey, a representative of Indian High Commissioner Office in Bangladesh.
