Chittagong City Mayor M Monzoor Alam formally inaugurated the 13- day long Ekushey Book Fair organised by Chittagong City Corporation at Muslim Hall premises yesterday.
A colorful rally was also arranged by the students of City Corporation schools ,ward councilor , officers and staff .
Various colorful festoon , banner and the write-up of various slogan for the martyrs were displayed in the rally. The rally paraded roads and ended in Muslim Hall premises.
City Corporation arranged various programmes to celebrate the International Mother Language Day. City Mayor urged the youths to be inspired form our Mother Language Day and.
City mayor also remembered the martyrs of 1952 who sacrificed their lives for the safe of our mother tongue and the country.
Later, City Mayor unveiled the cover of two books written by Jamal Uddin “Hill Tract and the Chakma and Chittagong City in Muktijuddo”from Balaka Publication.
Chairman of Social Welfare Standing Committee Councilor Jahangir Alam Chy presided over the inaugural function.
Among others present on the occasion Pannel Mayor Mohmmed Hossain,chief Executive Officer Ali Ahmed, Secretary Rashid Ahmed, President of Srijoshil Publication Parisad Mohiuddin Shah Alam Nipu, Councellor Zahor Lal Hazari,Syed Golam Haider Mintu, Personnel Secretary to Mayor Md. Monjurul Islam Chief Education Officer Mohammed Sahidullaha were present on the occasion.
