13 back home languishing in Indian jail

Thirteen Bangladeshi nationals returned home on Monday after serving t hree years in jail in Indian jail.
Omar Sharif, officer-in-charge of Benapole immigration, said the returnees entered the Indian territory without valid documents three and half years ago in search of better job.
Later, Indian police arrested them from southwestern state Karnataka.
An Indian court sentenced them to three years’ imprisonment for illegally crossing the border and sent them to Karnataka central Jail.
On completion of the jail term, the Bangladeshi nationals returned home through the Beanpole check-post.
Firoj Uddin, officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Benapole Port Police Station, said the returnees hail from Khulna, Jessore and Narail districts.
