The 12th graduation ceremony of Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) was held on Tuesday at Mirpur Hall, Mirpur Cantonment in the capital. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, MP attended the ceremony as chief guest.
Chief of Army Staff General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral M Farid Habib, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari, high civil and military officials, academicians, newly graduates and their guardians were present in the ceremony.
Lieutenant Md Muzahidul Islam, BN was awarded Osmany Memorial Gold medal by Education Minister for his best academic result. A total of 319 students (civil-215, military-102 and foreign-02) were conferred degrees at the ceremony.
The education minister said that, “Devote your full potentials for the development of our country with patriotism, honesty and sincerity.
Do your best to uphold your image and the image of your prestigious Alma Mater”. The minister urged the science and technology-based educational institutes to play a supportive role alongside the government’s endeavors in building Digital Bangladesh.
He called upon the graduates to take challenges and opportunities of the 21st century to build themselves as worthy citizens in the future. The minister further said, “We will build such a new generation, which will be competent in science and technology, imbued with ethical values and patriotism and responsible to people”.
Education minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to all graduates and praised MIST authority for keeping the good standard of education. He added that the job of an educational institute to create a bright, educated and conscientious generation of citizens who are aware of their rights and responsibilities.
He said that it must be an inclusive place and inculcate the capacity for thought and exploration of new ideas.
