Police in separate drives arrested a total of 80 persons, including leaders and activists of Jamaat, Shibir and BNP from different places in the district on Tuesday night, police sources said.
The arrested persons include four leaders and activists of BNP, one Jamaat leader and two Shibir activists who are allegedly involved in various subversive and other terrorist activities.
Besides, police arrested another 73 persons, including absconding accused persons of different criminal cases, warranties, thieves, muggers, drug traders, anti-social elements and suspicious people.
After primary interrogation, the arrested persons were produced before different Rangpur courts from where they were sent to the jail hajat this afternoon, sources said.
BSS from Narail adds: Police conducted raids from different areas of the district till yesterday morning and arrested 42 persons on different charges.
Three arrested persons were identified as Shibir activist Rabiul Islam, 22, Jamat man Baki Billah, 45 and BNP activist Enamul Khan, 30.
Among the arrested persons, eight were from sadar thana, 13 from Lohagara thana, eight from Kalia thana and ten from Naragati thana. Police Super Sardar Rafiqul Islam confirmed the arrests and said the persons were handed over to the court.
