121 dengue patients hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 121 dengue patients were hospitalised in the last 24 hours till 8am on Wednesday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Among the new cases, 82 are from outside Dhaka.
With the new cases, the total number of dengue rose to 27,343 while a total of 3,567 was diagnosed during the running month. Of the total infected, 4,273 are from outside Dhaka.
At least 5,458 were diagnosed in October, 7,841 were diagnosed in September, 7,698 were diagnosed in August, 2,286 patients were hospitalised in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May and rest are from January to April, according to the DGHS.
According to the DGHS, 98 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year.
Twelve people died in July while 34 died in August and 23 in September 22 in October and seven in November.
Among the deaths, 90 have died in Dhaka division, two each in Chattogram, Khulna, and Mymensingh divisions and one each
in Rajshahi and Barishal divisions.
Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 321 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 77 outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
UNB Adds: As many as 121 new dengue patients have been hospitalised in 24 hours until Wednesday morning, health authorities said.
The number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease remained unchanged at 98 in the current year as no fresh death was reported during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Ninety people died in Dhaka division alone, two each in Chattogram, Mymensingh and Khulna divisions and one each in Rajshahi and Barishal divisions.
Thirty-nine new patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals in Dhaka while the remaining 82 cases have been reported from outside the division.
Some 321 patients diagnosed with dengue are receiving treatment in the country as of Wednesday.
