Kamruzzaman Bablu :
About 1200 family pilgrims may miss the pilgrimage this year to Saudi Arabia due to seriality complication, sources said.
Sources said that the intending family pilgrims under Electronic Hajj System (e-Hajj) were required first to complete pre-registration on online before depositing the Hajj amount. Accordingly, when they went to deposit fees through agency, they were barred to do so because of indiscipline serial number.
As per system, if a family wants to perform Hajj together, they must complete all formalities to maintain serial number.
But, it was found that disciplinity in serial number was not preserved. As for example, if husband’s name is at one place, wife’s name is at a far distance. In this situation, they will not be allowed to deposit Hajj amount. And it happened so to the frustration of about 1200 pilgrims.
When the attention of Secretary General of the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh, Shaik Abdullah was drawn to the misfortunes of about 1200 pilgrims, he said, “We have requested the Religious Ministry to solve the issue as early as possible.” He said, a committee has been formed in this regard.
It is compulsory for a female pilgrim to be accompanied by such a person as marriage with him is forbidden for life. So, the matter will be dealt with much importance.
HAAB Secretary also said, already a list of 1154 pilgrims have been prepared for submitting to the Religious Ministry for action. The Ministry assured of lookung into the matter quickly.
An official of Religious ministry said that they had recevied a list issued by the HAAB and there were names of about 1200 pilgrims for registration.
About 4672 pilgrims under the government management and a total of 90,701 pilgrims under private management have applied for going to Mecca to perform Hajj this year.
Those interested in going under the private arrangement need to go to government-approved Hajj agencies, where they will be given a unique user identification and password from the ministry.
For Bangladesh Hajj agencies, their minimum quota for accommodating pilgrims is 150 per agency.
It is to be mentioned that Saudi Arabia allotted a quota of 101,758 for Bangladeshi pilgrims for performing Hajj this year. Of those, 10,000 will perform Hajj under government management and 91,758 will go under private management.
The private Hajj agencies will be allowed to send 88,204 pilgrims from the quota while the rests 3,554 persons of private quota will go to Saudi Arabia as support staff.
