Anisul Islam Noor :Rural Electrification Board (REB) will supply electricity to 1200 industries by June as per required demand of the consumption, sources said. REB Chairman Brigadier Moinuddin has instructed the General Managers of all Palli Biddyut Samities to give electricity connections to all the pending applicants.Some 1200 industrial applications are waiting for electricity connections. Power Division official said power generation is increasing without proper plan. The REB Chairman Brigadier Moinuddin said, “It is true that we have some limitations, but the applications are being processed. Demand notefor 200 MW is already under process against some 1,700 applications while we issued demand notes for 269 MW against 2,270 applications. 710 MW against 6,960 applications and those are under technical survey and 1,061 applications are under survey.”He said, the GM who so will fail to provide electricity in due time will be punished. And the successful will be rewarded. An official of Power Cell, a wing of PDB, said now the PDB is anxious about surplus generation. Electricity demand is not increasing as per generation. If the government fails to create industrial demand, PDB will face problem in near future.
