A mobile court seized 120 tonnes of illegally-hoarded rice and fined Tk 70,000 to four rice traders in Sadar upazila on Tuesday .
The traders are Shibu Nath Saha, 52, Nabin Chandra Saha, 48, Kirton Saha, 43, and ANM Anisuzzaman, 48. All of the traders are the residents of the same upazila.
A team led by Additional SP and commander of RAB-8 Roich Uddin conducted the raids on Wedneday afternoon at different whareshouses of the town and seized rice which had been hoarded illegally.
Later, Executive Magistrate Sajal Kumar Shil fined them Taka 70,000 for possessing the rice illegally which is creating rice crisis and price hike in the local markets.
