Airtel Bangladesh Limited, one of the fastest growing mobile service providers of the country has announced the final selection of the Airtel Rising Stars second season at the event’s closing ceremony in BKSP. The top 12 players out of 120 players selected will travel to Manchester United for a training program at Old Trafford.
The selected final 12 young footballers are Md.Mustajik Khan – BKSP, Savar, Dhaka, Md. Mahadud Hossain Fahim – BKSP -Savar, Dhaka, Md.Anik Hossain- Isdaeer Rabia Hossain high school Narayanganj, Md. Nayeem Islam-Shitolai Alim Madrasa, Rajshahi, Md. Emon Biswas-BKSP, Dinajpur, Mahbu;bur Rahman-Victoria High School, Moulivibazar, Srimangal, Md. Hafizur Rahman- Badshah Faisal Islami Institute, Jessore, Md.Solaiman Haque – Chandrabaj Rashida Begum School and College, Jamalpur, Md. Mashiur Rahman- Chai Moria Bohumukhi High School, Gaibandha, Md.Khokon Miya- Chandrabaj Rashida Begum School and College, Jamalpur, Md. Sabbir Hossain-Torun Sangha Taka Para High School, Rajshahi, Md. Sohanur Rahman-BKSP, Khulna.
Honorable High Commissioner of United Kingdom H.E. Robert W. Gibson was present at the closing ceremony along with Mr. A B M Ruhul Azad, Director (Training), BKSP, Ms.Shamima Sattar Mimo, Deputy Director (Training), BKSP, Mr. Bayzid Zubair Alam Nipu, Technical Director of Bangladesh Football Federation, Mr. Faridur Reza Sagor, Managing Director Channel i, Mr. Rajnish Kaul, Chief Operating Officer, Airtel Bangladesh Limited, Mr. Mir Nawbut Ali, Head of Marketing.
The four coaches from Manchester United Kevin O’Connell, Adam Hilton, Dave Chapman, and Lami Sonola joined the top 120 players selected throughout the country in BKSP on February 23, 2014 where they conducted a training program. The final 12 players were selected based on their performance in the training.
The second season of Airtel Rising Stars took place in 19 hubs across the country. 120 players were selected from Mymensingh Hub, Comilla Hub, Bogra Hub , Madaripur Hub, Jessore Hub, Chittagong Hub, Chuadanga Hub, Dinajpur Hub, Manikganj Hub, Cox’s Bazaar Hub, Sylhet Hub, Faridpur Hub, Khulna Hub, Barisal Hub, Rangpur Hub, Feni Hub, Dhaka Hub, Rajshahi Hub and Hobiganj Hub. Second season of Airtel Rising Stars has been supported by Prothom Alo, Channel i, Independent TV, Radio Foorti and Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) as partners.
‘Airtel Rising Stars’ is a rigorous scouting program which has been held in 2 rounds conducted over a span of 5 months, at the end of which, top 12 players (under 16 years of age) has been be selected. In the Airtel Cup, players from all hubs from across the country competed with each other in different teams where top 120 players were chosen. The 120 players selected from 19 Hubs were taken through a 4 day grooming session at BKSP. Launched in association with Manchester United (one of the best soccer clubs in the world), the top 12 players out of 120 players has been selected to travel to Manchester United for a training program at Old Trafford.
