Twelve more people were arrested over snatching the prime accused in a subversion case on Monday, increasing the number of arrestees to 21 so far in two days.
Officer-in-Charge of Ullapara Police Station Dewan Koushik Ahmed said police arrested the people in separate drives at different places throughout Tuesday night. On Monday, police arrested Alauddin Al Azad, acting Secretary of Ullapara Upazila Unit Jamaat and the prime accused of a subversion case from Kaira Charpara village in the upazila.
Leaders and activists of local Awami League and Jamaat swooped on the police car carrying the accused and snatched away the accused in handcuffs.
Later, SI Ripon Kumar Saha filed a case accusing 223 people with 150 as unnamed on that day. Five were arrested on Monday and four more on Tuesday prior to the overnight raids.
