At least 12 people including three women were injured as two factions of ruling Awami League clashed over grabbing the government land in Rupganj thana of Narayanganj district on Sunday afternoon.
Of the injured four were identified as Anwar Hossain, Lucky Begum (1) Lucky Akhter (2) and Helena Khatun. They were admitted to hospital.
Quoting locals, Ismail Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Rupganj Police Station, said since long the two groups had been trying to grab the government land.
The clash ensued yesterday afternoon when the followers of the two groups went to government land for grabbing it. Both the groups, equipped with lethal weapons, attacked each other that left at least 12 injured.
“Stern action would be taken against those who are trying to grab government land,” the Rupganj OC Ismail said.
