Twelve fishermen were jailed during an anti-jhatka fishing drive from the Meghna River under Haimchar upazila of the district last night.
The mobile court also seized 200-kg of jatka fish, 3 boats and 5,000 meters of current nets from them.
The mobile court, led by Haimchar upazila executive magistrate and assistant commissioner (Land) Reagan Chakma, Chandpur Fisheries Department and Coast Guard, conducted the drive from 5pm to 9 pm on Friday in different areas in the Megna river under Haimchar upazila in the district.
During the drive, around 20 fishermen were arrested, three boats and 5,000-meter of current nets and 200-kg of jatka fish were seized from them, said Haimchar Upazila Fisheries Officer Mizanur Rahman.
