Twelve children have reportedly drowned in seven districts of the country in two hours. These incidents took place on Thursday from 12 noon to 2 pm. Of these, 3 are in Kurigram, 3 in Nikli of Kishoreganj, 2 in Brahmanbaria, one each in Jamalpur, Meherpur, Panchagarh, and Natore.
Kurigram: Three children drowned while bathing in a river while visiting their aunt’s house in Rowmari of Kurigram. The incident took place at noon on Thursday in Sonabhari river near Kolejpara in Bandab UP in the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Jinnat Khatun Dina, daughter of Oli Ullah of Kismat Barbari village under Sadullapur upazila of Gaibandha; They were cousins. Rowmari OC Abu Md. Dilwar Hasan Imam confirmed the matter.
