Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) yesterday celebrated its founding anniversary with great enthusiasm and festivity.
The day began with hoisting of national and university flags atop the administrative building.
RUET vice chancellor Prof Rafiqul Alam Begue inaugurated the programme on campus.
A colourful procession with banners and festoons was brought on the campus. The VC also launched a tree plantation campaign by planting saplings on the compound of the administrative building.
Later, a project exhibition and programming contest was held in front of RUET administrative building.
A special prayer was held at the central mosque after Zohar prayer. At that time, the VC urged the teachers, students and university employees to create a congenial academic atmosphere on the campus.
The university was founded in 1964 as a faculty of Engineering under the University of Rajshahi providing four years Bachelor degree in Civil, Electrical and Electronic and Mechanical Engineering.
