Bangladesh Road Transport Authority filed 118 cases, jailed seven persons and realised Tk one lakh, 24 thousand and five hundred as fine for violation of traffic rules in the city’s different areas on Wednesday.
BRTA operated four mobile courts and a road safety and awareness campaign in Jatrabari, Agargaon, Shahbagh and Diabari areas, said a press release issued by the authorities.
In city’s Jatrabari area, BRTA’s executive magistrate Johora Khatun filed 42 cases, dumped three vehicles and realised Tk 35,800 as fine for violating rules.
In Agargaon area, in another mobile court drive, BRTA’s executive magistrate Muhammad Abdus Salam filed 37 cases, jailed two people and realised Tk 32,900 as fine for violation of rules.
In city’s Shahbagh area, BRTA’s executive magistrate Shujit Hawlader filed 31 cases, sends three people to jail and realised Tk 42,000 as fine.
In city’s Diabari area, BRTA’s executive magistrate Mohammad Munibur Rahman filed eight cases, jailed two people and realised TK 13,000 as fine.
