11 teams to monitor dedicated Covid-19 hospitals

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has formed 11 teams to monitor dedicated Covid-19 hospitals in Dhaka in a bid to ensure treatment of patients.
The teams which will directly report to the hospitals and clinics section of DGHS, will start their assignment from today (Wednesday), officials said.
According to them, a letter was issued on May 25 in this regard, signed by DGHS Director (Hospital) Aminul Hasan.
According to DGHS, the 11 teams will supervise a total of 24 public and private hospitals in Dhaka (including two branches of Regent Hospital) and one in Narayanganj.
Initially, a total of 35 medical college teachers and DGHS officials will be divided into 11 teams. Moreover, all of these teams will have at least one medicine specialists, one anesthesiologist, and a DGHS official in them.
According to officials, the teams will visit the selected hospitals at least once a week to check if all of them have their equipment and other service materials in place for treating people with Covid-19.
When asked, Dr Aminul Hasan, Director (Hospital) at the DGHS, said: “The eleven teams will start their work from Wednesday with the task of ensuring quality service at the hospitals dedicated for treating Covid-19 patients only.”
The 11 teams have been authorized to suggest necessary improvements and modifications if necessary, to the authorities of the concerned hospitals.
They will look into around 27 indicators – including equipment availability, mortality rate, patient satisfaction level, stay duration of patients, adequate oxygen supply and more – to ensure quality and proper healthcare for those who are suffering from the deadly virus.
