At least 11 shops were gutted as a fire broke out at Madhobpur Paschim Bazaar under Madhobpur upazila of the district last night.
Fire Service and Civil Defence sources told BSS that the fire originated from a drug shop and soon engulfed the adjacent shops.
Being informed, two firefighters units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after two hours of frantic efforts, said M Waliullah, in-charge of Madhobpur Fire Station. No actual financial losses were so far known although shop owners claimed that the loss may surpass Taka one crore..
