At least 11 different kinds of shops were gutted at Latifpur area under city’s Akbarshah thana on early Thursday.
Fire service sources said the fire originated from electric short circuit of a electric goods shop around 6.30 am early today and it quickly engulfed the surrounding shops.
On information, two units of fire fighters from Agrabad rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control around 11 am.
Fire service sources said, valuables worth about Taka five lakh were gutted in the fire.
