Bangla Academy Literary Award has been announced on Thursday. Some 11 eminent poets, writers, researchers and educationists will be decorated with Bangla Academy Literary Award this year for their contributions in various disciplines of literature.
Shamsuzzaman Khan, Director General of Bangla Academy, announced the names of the recipients of the award at a press conference on the premises of the academy today.
The recipients of the award are: Helal Hafiz (Poetry), Purabi Basu (Literature), Mofidul Huq (Article), Jamil Chowdhury and Probhangshu Tripura (Research), Kaiser Huq (Translation), Harun Habib (Literature on the Liberation War affairs), Mahfuzur Rahman (Autobiography), Shahidul Huq (Science, Technology and Environment), Kaizer Chowdhury and Aslan Sunny (Child literature and rhymes).
Announcing the award, Shamsuzzaman Khan said, “Bangla Academy has brought some sort of changes in regard to the announcement and distribution of the award. Over the years, the academy used to announce the names of the award recipients at the concluding period of Book Fair. In accordance with the decision adopted, the academy literary award was announced this year before the beginning of the Book Fair.”
He said the names of the recipients of Bangla Academy Literary Award would be announced before the beginning of the Book Fair from now on.
Shamsuzzaman Khan also disclosed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the award among the recipients at the inaugural function of the Immortal Ekushey Book Fair on February 1.
