11 pistols, 28 bullets recovered in C’nawabganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in separate drives recovered 11 pistols, 28 rounds of bullets and six magazines from Namochwakpara frontier and Raninagar Gopalpurghat area of Shibganj upazila.
During the drive, law enforcers also arrested a man – Ashraful Alam Ashik, 28, son of late Joynal Abedin of Panditpara village of the upazila.
Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Ali, captain of Chapainawabganj BGB-59, said on secret information a BGB team conducted a drive at a house of
Abdul Mannan in the area around 5:00 am on Tuesday and recovered nine pistols, 15 rounds of bullets and two magazines.
However, sensing the presence of law enforcers Abdul Mannan and his son Sadiqul managed to flee the scene, the BGB official added.
Moreover, tipped-off, a team of elite force conducted a drive in Raninagar Gopalpurghat area around 9:00 pm on Monday and arrested Ashik along with two pistols, 13 rounds of bullets and four magazines, said Squadron Leader Mohammad Sayed Abdullah Al-Murad, camp commander of Chapainawabganj Rab-5.
Ashik had been involved with arms trading for a long, the Rab official added.
A case was filed with Shibganj Police Station in this connection.
