Death procession in the road accidents continue unabated. No step taken by the government and students’ movement could stop the killing on the roads and highway due to reckless driving.
At least eleven more persons were killed and 40 others injured in separate road crashes in the country on Saturday.
In Gaibandha, around six more persons died when a bus collided with a shallow engine propelled tractor on the Gaibandha-Palashbari Road in Palashbari upazila on the day. At least 10 others got injured.
Local sources said that a Dhaka bound bus collided head-on with a tractor in Mahdipur at midnight (12am).The bus plunged into a ditch as the driver lost control over the steering , leaving four dead on the spot and 11 others injured.
Of the injured, two succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital. The others were undergoing treatment.
Palashbari Police Sttaion Officer-in-Charge (OC) confirmed the news of accident to Media.
In Netrokona, at least four more persons were killed and five others injured when a bus rammed an auto-rickshaw on the Kendua-Atharabari Road in Kendua upazila of Netrokona.
The deceased have been identified as Md Jamal Uddin, 35, the driver of auto-rickshaw; and Nazir Uddin, 25, Sharif Hossain, 19, from Kendua, and Murad Hossain from Mohanganj upazila of Netrakona.All of them were passengers.
Imarat Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Kendua Police Station confirmed the matter that the accident occurred when a Kalmakanda bound bus from Dhaka collided with the CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, leaving the four persons dead on the spot around 3:00pm. The injured were rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH), the OC said.
In Gopalganj, A pedestrian named Abu Sayeed Talukder (55) was killed at Bhatiapara under Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj on the day. At least 10 passengers of the bus were injured in the incident. The accident took place on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway around 4pm. The deceased Abu Sayeed was son of late Anar Haque Talukder from Kamar village under Alfadanga upazila of Faridpur district.
Kashiani Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azizur Rahman confirmed the news media.
