UNB, Barisal :
Elevent people were killed and 35 others injured as a bus ploughed through a crowd at a local bazaar on Barisal-Dhaka highway in Wazirpur upazila on Friday evening.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.
Officer-in-charge of Wazirpur Police Station Anwar Hossain said the Barisal-bound bus of ‘Hanif Paribahan’ from Dhaka crashed into the crowd at the bazaar at Ichhladi near Doarika-Shikarpur Toll Plaza around 7pm as its driver lost control over the steering.
The accident left five people dead on the spot and 37 others injured, he said.
Of the injured, two were declared brought dead at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, said a doctor at hospital’s emergency unit. The injured were admitted to different hospitals.
