11 kg gold seized at HSIA

Customs Officials seized 100 unclaimed gold bars weighing around 11.6 kilograms worth around Tk six crore from a Qatar Airways flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday morning.
However, no one was arrested in connection with the gold recovery, Customs Official said.
HM Ahsanul Kabir, Assistant Commissioner of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department, said, “Acting on a tip-off that gold bars were being smuggled inside the plane, the Customs Officials searched the aircraft and found the 100 gold bars under a passenger seat around 11:00am..”
The gold bars have been seized from the Qatar Airways from Doha, the Customs Official said.
A case has been filed with the Airport Police Station, he said.
