Some 11 jungle pirates out of 14 belonging to Shanto Bahini and Alam Bahini, 2 notorious gangs of jungle pirates of Sundarban forest were released on bail from Bagerhat jail on Thursday.
It may be mentioned here that the jungle pirates surrendered to the Home Minister through RAB-8 on September 7 ceremonially along with 20 fire arms and 1020 ammunitions with the promise to leave the piracy and return to the normal life. Jungle pirates appeared before Fazlul Haq, judge of Bagerhat District and Session Judge Court on Wednesday and pleaded for their bail. The learned judge granted their bail and consequently, they were released from Bagerhat jail on the following day. But Md. Alam Sardar (34), ring leader of Alam Bahini and Dulal Molla Bhandari (40) and Anisur Rahman Molla (35) belonging to Shanto Bahini were not released as more than one criminal cases are pending against them.
Those jungle pirates who were released on bail are Abdul Barek Talukdar Shanot (45),ring leader of Shanto Bahini, Monir Hawladar (45). Md. Farid Hawladar (26), Bashir Ahmed Shaikh (47), Mostofa Shaikh (46), Farid Gazi (38), Nurul Islam Shaikh (44), Md. Khorshed Shaikh (52), Md. Asaduzzaman (18), Md. Halim Gazi (26) and Md. Abu Bakr Siddiq Gazi (27).
