11 including NSU student killed in road crashes

At least 11 more persons were killed and 40 others injured in separate road crashes across the country on Saturday.
In Sylhet, two employees of Palli Bidyut were killed and two others critically injured when a passenger bus struck a van in Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Hai, 35, son of one Sadek Ali from Chandanpat area in Saghata upazila of Gaibandha district and Rashed Ahmed, 20, son of Asadul from the Katoa village of the same upazila. The injured are Rajit Ali, 28, and Mamun Mia, 22, both from Basuda village of Saghata upazila.
Local sources said that the Palli Bidyut workers were heading towards Sylhet with electric poles on a van when a Sherpur-bound bus ran over it in Gadia area. Two workers died on the spot.
Kamrul Islam, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Moulvibazar Sherpur Highway Zone told media that Fire Service members recovered the bodies and sent to Osmani Medical College and Hospital. The injured men were also admitted to the hospital.
In Jamalpur, a student of North South University (NSU) died and another sustained injuries when a truck hit a motorcycle in front of Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Jamalpur town on Friday mid night.
The deceased was identified as Faisal Mahmud Supta, 19, a fifth-semester engineering student at North South University.
Another injured, named Sejan, was taken to Jamalpur General Hospital.
Nasimul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jamalpur Sadar Police Station said that police recovered the body and sent to the morgue, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nasimul Islam.
In Noakhali a small boy was killed in a road crash at Sundalpur under Kabirhat upazila of Noakhali district on Saturday.
Deceased Md Zihad, 4, was the son of Md Batu Mia, a resident of Malipara village in the upazila.
A battery run auto-rickshaw ran over the boy as he was returning home from relatives’ house, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Noakhali General Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
In Manikganj, an unidentified person was killed when a bus rammed a motorcycle in Manikganj Sadar upazila.
Around 20 passengers of the bus were injured in the incident.
The accident took place on Saturday at the Dhaka-Aricha highway around 7:30 am. Golara Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Habibur Rahman told matter to media.
In Gaibandha, A seven-year-old child named Alif Mia was killed after a gasoline-laden sandalwood collapsed him at Gobindaganj in Gaibandha.
The accident occurred on Saturday at Gobindaganj Boalia beside the Dhaka-Rangpur highway.
The deceased was identified as Alif, son of Shafiqul Islam from Boalia village under Gobindaganj municipality. Gobindaganj Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Majibur Rahman confirmed the news to media.
In Dhamrai(Dhaka),A security worker named Belayet Hossain (50) was killed on the Dhaka-Aricha highway at Dhamrai upazila. The accident took place on Saturday at Islampur bus stand of Dhaka-Aricha highway. The deceased identified as Belayet , served as a security worker in the garment factory in Nayarhat, Dhaniya.Dhamarai Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Nahid Hassan confirmed the news to the media.
In Bagerhat, A bus driver named Shahdat Josen (34) was killed in a confrontation crash between two buses in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat.
Around 10 people were injured in the attack. The incident took place in front of Bismillah Fish Feed in Kendua area of the Bagerhat-Mawa highway around 8:30 am on Saturday morning.
Bagerhat Highway Police Sub Inspector (SI) Md. Jamal Uddin told the news of accident to media.
In Chittagong, a 25-year-old unknown youth was killed when a truck hit the bus in Chaumuhani of Anwara upazila on Saturday.
Around five injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). The accident occurred on Saturday in the afternoon. Anowara Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Dulal Mahmud told the news media.
In Narayanganj, a woman named Ashma Begum (47) was killed in a road accident in the port area of Narayanganj District. She died on Friday night in Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The deceased was identified as Azma Begum, wife of Nazrul Islam, from Kamtal Malivita village of port.
This incident occurred in front of the Kamtal Investigation Center of the port on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Wednesday noon. SI Mantosh of Kanchpur highway police confirmed the news media.
In Khagrachhari, a stones laden truck fell into the river after the bridge broke down at Mahalchari in Khagrachhari district on Saturday.
Around four people were rescued but one worker is still missing. The accident took place at around 10:30 am near the Mohalchhari police station in the district.
