Eleven people with 1,000 liters of local wine have been arrested from Iqbal Road in Patharghata of Kotwali Police Station of the port city.
They were detained on Wednesday in a raid in the old Fishery Ghat fish market area of the city, confirmed AC Mohammad of Kotwali Zone, Mujahidul Islam.
Kotwali Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Nezam Uddin said drug dealer Jahangir and his associates used different sized water bottles to sell indigenous wine without the knowledge of law enforcement. They used to bring indigenous wine in water bottles so that no one could understand. A total of 11 people, including drug addicts, have been arrested in a search operation conducted on the basis of secret information.
