About 11 crore of the people have got covid-19 preventive vaccines so far, health department said.
Data from the Directorate General of Health Services showed that about 11,16,32,744 recipient of the country so far got covid-19 jabs.
Among those, about 6,74,70,049 recipients have got first doses of the vaccines while around 4,41,62,495 persons has been administrated the second shots.
A press release signed by Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Director of the DGHS stated this. The government has introduced vaccination on January 27 this year while started mass inoculation programme since February 7 this year.
Meanwhile, the health ministry has made a plan to inoculate booster dose among the elderly people and the front liners workers in the country.
About three people has identified as the new covid variant Omicron positive in the country.
World Health Organisation has announced the Omicron variant of covid-19 as ‘a variant of concern’.
The Omicron variant is potentially more contagious than the Delta variant.
In this situation, Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Monday said that the health authorities are
to start administering booster doses of the Covid-19 vaccines in this December to frontline workers and among the people of 60s and above.
The health minister on Wednesday said that the country has achieved 32pc of its target of vaccinations.
“We have more four crore and fifty lakh doses of vaccine in store. We will start the booster shots of vaccine to the elderly people and the front liner within seven to 10 days,” the health minister said it after a function of receiving 80,55,000 doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines from Japan and the United Kingdom in the capital.
The UK has given 40,55,000 doses of the jab while Japan gave 40,0800 shots of the vaccine under the Covax facilities.
