In forthcoming poura elections in Rangunia, Mirsarai and Bariarhat pourasavas , 6 candidates for the post of mayors and 155 candidates for the post of councilors have submitted nomination papers to respective returning officers. On the other hand, 11 councilor candidates including the mayor are going to be elected without contest in Raozan Pourasava.
On Tuesday, the last day for submission of nomination papers, the contesting candidates did not submit nomination papers in wards other than one in each ward. Awami League nominated mayor candidate Jamir Uddin Parvez in Raozan pourasava, BNP nominee Abu Jafar Chowdhury took the nomination form but Abu Zafar did not submit it.
Most of those who have submitted nominations for the post of councilor are currently in charge. Alamgir Ali in Ward No. 1, Kazi Iqbal in Ward No. 2, Bashir Uddin Khan in Ward No. 3, Jane Alam Johnny in Ward No. 4, Shawkat Hasan in Ward No. 5, Sameer Das Gupta and Bikash Das in Ward No. 6 have submitted nomination papers for the post of Councilor.
Azad Hossain in Ward No. 7 , Dilip Chowdhury in Ward No. 8, Jasim Uddin Chowdhury in Ward No. 9. Among the women councilors, Nasima Akter in wards 1, 2 and 3, Jebunnesa in wards 4, 5 and 6, Jannatul Ferdous Dolly in wards 6, 7 and 9.
