A team of Detective Branch (DB) of Police in a drive arrested 11 people with five kilogrammes (Kg) of gunpowder from the city’s Motijheel area on Monday night.
The arrestees were identified as Fazlul Kabir alias Foysal, 38, Zahidur Rahman Rajon, 36, Abdullah Al Mamun, 42,
Mahmudur Rahman Ripon, 42, Abdul Matin Liton, 42, Manik alias Anwar Hossain, 29, Md Abu Saeed, 39, Md Moshiur Rahman, 26, Helal Uddin, 26, Shahadat Hossain, 24 and Md Delwar Hossain, 18.
A team of DB (North) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), conducted a raid and arrested them with five kilogrammes of gunpowder from a hotel in Fakirerpul area of Motijheel on Monday night, said Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the Dhaka city police.
The arrestees, in primary interrogation, have confessed to hoarding gunpowder for destabilising the government by creating anarchy, the police official said.
A case has been filed with the Motijheel Police Station in this regard.
