A total of 1,09,671 hectares of land have been brought under Robi crops cultivation and probable production target has been fixed at 4,80,981 metric tonnes (MT) in five upazilas of the district this seasons.
According to Gopalganj Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources , some 77,896 hectares of land have been brought under Boro cultivation of them 48,551 hectares have been brought under high yielding variety (HYV) Upashi 29,221 hectare sand 124 hectares under local variety. The paddy probable production target at 3,42,572 metric tonnes (MT).
A total of 7,550 hectares of land have been brought under wheat cultivation and the production target at 30,200 metric tonnes (MT). Mustard is being cultivated on 3,530 hectares of land in the district and production target at 3,830 metric tonnes (MT).
About 260 hectares of land have been brought under potato cultivation with a production target at 5,200 metric tonnes (MT). 9,520 hectares of land have been brought under pulse cultivation in the district with a production target of 9,520 metric tonnes. (MT).
Lentil is being cultivated on 4050 hectares of land in the district and the production target at 5,020 metric tonnes (MT). A total of 390 hectares of land have been brought under pea cultivation with a production target at 520 metrict tonnes (MT).
A total of 2,825 hectares of land have been brought under omon cultivation and the production taget at 29,070 metric tonnes (MT). Besides 3,650 hectares of land have been brought under vegetable cultivation with a production target of 55,049 metric tonnes (MT).
Necessary inputs like seeds, fertilizers and pesticides will be distributed free of cost among the farmers selected 1020 different kinds of demonstration plots in five upazilas of the district this seasons, sources said.
