Two mobile courts on Friday recovered 107 sacks of VGF (Vulnerable Group Feeding) rice from Jamalpur and Sherpur.
74 sacks of rice were recovered from a warehouse owned by AL leader Habibur Rahman Dulal in Jamalpur while 33 sacks were recovered from Chowkidar Zahurul Haque’s house at Charpakshimari Union’s in Sherpur around 8am on Friday.
Habibur Rahman Dulal is also Jamalpur Zila Parishad member and Sadar Thana Awami League Publicity Secretary.
A mobile court raided the Biara Palashtala village of Shahbazpur Union on Friday afternoon and seized the rice.
Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner of the mobile court Mahmuda Begum said that on the basis of secret news, 74 sacks of rice under food program were seized by operating a mobile court for taking into the government custody.
Upazila food officer has been directed to file a case in this regard, he said.
In Sherpur, Upazila administration recovered 33 sacks of rice in Sherpur. According to the secret news, the rice was recovered from Chowkidar Zahurul Haque’s house at Charpakshimari Union’s Sadar shop area around 8am on Friday.
Sherpur police arrested a rice trader named Manik Mia in the incident. Upazila Food Officer Mamun Hossain has been given the responsibility to investigate. Sherpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Firoz Al Mamun confirmed the incident.
