Corona situation in dists: 1018 expatriates in home quarantine in 11 dists

A total of 81 overseas returnees have been kept at home quarantine in ten upazilas of the district till March 21 to check the spread of coronavirus.
Talking to this correspondent , Civil Surgeon of Netrakona Dr. Mohammad Tajul Islam said, “A total of 81 people, who returned recently from different foreign countries including China, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Italy, Malaysia and Singapore, have been advised to stay at their homes for 14 days”.
Sounding a note of warning, he said stern action would be taken against the overseas returnees, if they violate the directives of confinement.
Meanwhile, Dr Tajul said nine isolation wards have been set up in nine upazila health complexes and one isolation ward has been set up in Netrakona Sadar hospital in the district to provide healthcare services to the coronavirus infected patients.
Netrakona district administration and district health department continued distributing leaflets inscribed with doings and necessary health instructions for containing the outbreak of the deadly virus.
Staff Reporter from Rangpur reports: Some 627 people from different areas in eight districts under Rangpur Division have been placed in home quarantine so far on suspicion of having coronavirus.
 They returned from different countries including Italy, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Singapore. Divisional Director’s (Health) office sources confirmed this information.
 Meanwhile, Rangpur District Administration, Directorate of Health Services, Civil Surgeon office and Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) have taken adequate preparations to combat the outbreak of Covid-19 in the district.
 Besides, separate ward arrangements have also been made in the government hospitals to tackle the coronavirus.According to sources 41- bed isolation unit has been kept prepared in Rangpur Medical College Hospital and Haragachh Hospital in Rangpur metropolis. Besides, 100 beds have been kept ready in newly built Shishu Hospital in the city which has already been declared quarantine spot.
Adequate measures have been taken to combat any adverse situation, said Director of Rangpur Medical College Hospital Dr. Faridul Islam.All hospitals and upazila hospitals in the district have been directed to be vigilant against the virus said Civil Surgeon Dr. Hirombo Kumar Roy.
Apart from this Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) with the assistance of local units of the community policing committee began distributing 10-lakh pieces of face masks and one-lakh leaflets at different areas in Rangpur.
Naogaon Correspondent says: Some expatriates from different countries were kept at home quarantine in Naogaon on Saturday .
A total of 208 people stood in the district. 4 of them were withdrawn from home quarantine at the end of the day after they did not receive any virus symptoms. Currently, 204 migrants have been kept in the home quarantine in the district. Of which there were 173 till yesterday. The information was confirmed by Civil Surgeon of Naogaon Dr S M Akhteruzzaman at 9am on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Harun-Rashid said , steps have been taken to create awareness through the district information office in the district . Also, those who do not obey the home quarantine are trying to comply with the penalty.
BSS from Gaibandha adds: A total of 100 overseas returnees as of yesterday have gone on home quarantine in all the seven upazilas of the district to check spread of coronavirus.
The expatriates have recently returned from China, Italy, Malaysia and other Middle East countries and they have been placed at their respective homes in self-isolation, official sources said.
Earlier, as many as 22 overseas returnees coming from various countries were released as they maintained the condition of staying home quarantine for 14 days, sources added.
Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr. ABM Abu Hanif said precautionary measures have been taken at the district hospital including ansar and VDP barrack and training center of Department of Youth Development with necessary equipment to face any situation due to coronavirus.
He discouraged people to attend all kinds of public gatherings, meetings and rallies, urging all to avoid public transport and try to maintain one- meter distance from one another.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin urged all to inform the district and upazila administrations and health officials about the arrival of the overseas returnees without delay to keep them in quarantine to check the coronavirus outbreak.
Stern actions would be taken against the returnees from abroad if they move freely without staying in quarantine for 14 days, he warned.

One fined for violating

Chandpur Correspondent reports: UNO Hajiganj Baishakhi Barua fined two returnees from abroad Tk 20 thousand in Suhilpur village and Dakhshin Borkul village in separate Mobile Courts in the Upazila on Thursday afternoon while they were moving at large in the hats and bazars, taking tea, hugging with each other and coming to mosques violating rules of Government imposed home huarantine.
 Acting on a secret information, they were fined Tk 10 thousand each , UNO said.
They are Mohammad Abdul Aziz Bepari,30, recently returned from Italy, a resident of Suhilpur and Mohammad Daud Hossain,30, recently returned from USA, and a resident of Dakhshin Borkul village. They were sent to Home Quarantine with admonishment.
On the other hand, a woman,45, who returned home in Matlab Uttar from Saudi Arabiya performing holy Omrah, fell sick at home and then on Tuesday afternoon she was admitted with C’virus suspect to Matlab Uttar Upazila Health Complex where she has been kept in Isolation Ward under Intensive Care. The Civil Surgeon Dr Shakhawatullah visited her today Thursday and told the Independent that she is feeling better. The matter was reported to IEDCR, Dhaka but no expert has yet come to take symptoms of this patient- said Medical Officer Dr Nusrat Jahan Mithen. Earlier, another old man of 60 was admitted in this Isolation Ward and he was sent back home as no c’virus was found in him by expert team of IEDCR.
 The Civil Surgeon Dr Md Shakhwatullah has told the Independent that today the total number of Home Quarantine people in Chandpur district is 171. Two weeks time of many Home Quarantine people was over by now. So the number is decreasing.

Companyganj expatriate
fined Tk 10,000
Sylhet Bureau reports: The Upazila administration has also blocked the wedding of a migrant in the companyganj of Sylhet amid coronavirus .
The groom was also fined Tk.10,000.
On Friday, Upon District Executive Officer Suman Acharya imposed a fine after organizing a wedding on the banks of the Shilerpar river of the upazila.
Apart from this, the family members returned to Dubai in Tuker Gaon area of the upazila and were fined Tk 10,000 for failing to comply with the quarantine rules.
Besides, the district administration is monitoring the market throughout the day. Some shops have also been fined. In the meanwhile, the sale of onions at Taz Bazar’s Nazmul store in the upazila has been fined Tk 10,000, while in Perua market, Jasim store has been fined Tk 10,000 for selling onions at a high price.
Companyganj Upazila Executive Officer Suman Acharya said all measures are being taken to ensure that the residents are in the home quarantine as per the government rules. Besides, I have taken various initiatives to stop people’s engagement in the upazila. At the same time, markets are being monitored so as not to destabilize the market.
