One hundred and one people have died from Covid-19 during 24 hours (till 8am on Saturday), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services.
This is the highest number of deaths due to Covid-19 recorded in the span of a day so far in the country. The same number of people died from coronavirus infection the previous day as well.
With this the total number of deaths reached 10,283 and death rate stands at 1.44 percent. At least 3,473 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,15,252, added the release.
The current positivity rate is 21.46 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.89 percent.
A total of 16,185 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am on Saturday).
At least 5,907 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 6,08,815 and the recovery rate at 85.12 percent.
Among the 101 deceased, 69 were men and 32 women while three were between 21-30 years old, three within 31-40, eight between 41-50, 29 within 51-60 and 58 were above 60 years old, added the release.
