The committee, formed by the government for making recommendations for raising the salary of the armed forces, on Thursday in its report suggested a 100 percent salary hike fixing the minimum basic salary at Tk 8,200 while the maximum for Generals Tk 1 lakh per month.
The eight-member committee, led by Lt General Anwar Hossain, submitted its report to Finance Minister AMA Muhith in the morning with recommendations for raising salaries for the members of Army, Navy and Air Force.
The committee suggested making the new pay structure effective from July 1 this year.
The body proposed Tk 1 lakh basic pay for the highest grade General and Tk 88,000 for Lieutenant General Tk 80,000 for Major General while it recommended Tk 8,200 for the lowest grade employees. Lt General Anwar Hossain told reporters that the committee recommended pay hike for the Armed Forces members in line with the recommendations of the National Pay Commission that suggested the salary hike for the civil servants.
