A mobile court seized 10,000 meters of fishing nets and five kilograms of hilsha fish from different areas of Padma River under Bagha upazila on Friday.
UNO Shahin Reza accompanied by Border Guard Bangladesh and Bagha police conducted a special drive and seized nets and fishes.
However, one fisherman was fined Tk 3,000 in this connection during the drive.
UNO Shahin Reza said that the fishermen were catching immature hilsha violating the government ban. The drive will continue till 28 October, he said.
Meanwhile, the seized nets were destroyed instantly.
