At least 100 shanties were burnt when a fire broke out in a slum in East Tejturi Bazar at Tejgaon in the capital on Monday afternoon.
However, no causality was reported during the fire, said Farid Uddin, Duty Officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) Headquarters.
Debashish Bardhan, Deputy Director of the FSCD, said “The fire erupted in the slum behind the railway market in the area around 12:00pm. Eight fire fighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame around 12:50pm.”
However, it is not yet clear what caused of the fire, he said.
A probe body was formed to investigate into the incident, according to him.
