About 100 illegal structures, including residential houses and shops, were pulled down by a team of the department of Roads and Highways (R&H) of Chandpur district in order to smooth running of traffic on Wednesday.
The structures were illegally erected at both sides of different roads of the town, R & H department sources said.
The team, led by executive magistrate Sanjoy Kumar Mahant and deputy chief engineer Sheikh Mohammad Shahrul Amin, conducted the demolition at Showlghar area of Chandpur-Faridganj Road, Dholghar, Chandpur Satu and Baghadi areas of the district town.
The department has urged the concerned people to remove their illegal structures from both sides of the roads for the greater interest of the people.
The deputy chief engineer said the campaign would continue against the illegal occupation of the roads.
