Ten U-turns will be opened for vehicular movement on Saturday from Capital’s Satrasta junction of Tejgaon to Uttara House Building street. As soon as 10 U-turns are opened, the right turn points will be closed.
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) said in a press release on Friday afternoon. The organization has requested vehicles to use these U-turns to reduce traffic congestion in the capital.
According to DNCC, these 10 U-turns have been constructed under the project ‘Construction of 11 U-turns from Tejgaon Satarasta Junction to Uttara House Building’.
The U-turns are situated in different areas, including Uttara Rajlaxmi point, Uttara RAB-1 office point, Kaula Flying Academy point, Banani overpass point, Banani Army Stadium point, Banani Chairman Bari point, Mohakhali Amtoli point, Mohakhali Bus Terminal point, Tejgaon Nabisco Mor point, and Satrasta BG Press point, reads a press release.
The DNCC will take the help of the Traffic Department of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to close all the right-turn points on both sides of the road.
The right-turn points to be closed are Navy Headquarter Road, Banani Road No. 27, Banani Kakoli, Banani Road No. 11, Mohakhali Amtoli Mor, Tejgaon Kohinoor Mor, Love Road Mor intersections.
DNCC executive engineer Mohammad Farhad said the U-turns had been in operation before. But this time we are going to officially launch them. At the same time, we will close the right turns of the road. This is one of the aspects of this project. This will reduce traffic congestion in the capital.
Incidentally, a project was undertaken to construct 11 U-turns on the road from Tejgaon Satrasta junction to Uttara House Building, but later it was decided to construct 10 U-turns.
