10 students get Sitara Parvin Award

Ten students of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) Department of Dhaka University on Monday received the “Professor Sitara Parvin Award” for their outstanding results in BSS (honours) examinations, 2016. The recipients are – Nawshin Jahan Etee, Priyanka Kundu, Masud Al Mahadi, Farhad Uddin, Arnab Biswas, Farhin Binte Siddique, Nadia Nahrin, Johora, Shafiqul Alam and Bani Amin Islam.
DU Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique handed over prize money among the recipients at RC Majumdar Arts Auditorium. MCJ Department Chairman Professor Mofizur Rhaman chaired the function while filmmaker Moshiuddin Saker delivered a memorial lecture titled “Ami and Amar Chalochitro” on late Professor Sitara Parvin. Paying rich tributes to Prof Sitara Parvin, Prof Arefin Siddique urged the students to learn from the life and works of the late teacher of the MCJ department.
Professor Ahaduzzaman Mohammad Ali, husband of Sitara Parvin, and teacher of MCJ department also spoke on the occasion.
Sitara Parvin, a teacher of the MCJ Department, died in a road accident in the USA on 23 June, 2005.
