10 pc dividend for BSC shareholders proposed

State owned shipping sector- Bangladesh Shipping Corporation earned net profit of Tk.5.33 cr during the fiscal of 2014-15 and the Board of Directors of the BSC proposes to provide 10 percent dividend to the share holders .
 This was disclosed by the Managing Director of BSC Commodore M Habibur Rahman Bhuyia at the press meet as arranged by BSC at it conference hall in BSC Bhaban on Wednesday .
 The press meet was told that annual general meeting of the corporation is expected to be held on Saturday next . Commodore Habibur Rahman told the pressmen that in a most important sector of a country like BSC should have alteast 25 to 30 mother tankers and selular container vessels but durin g the period of last 26 years, no vessel yet to be procured by this sector corporation.
The last one vessel Banglar Shikha was procured in 1991. To overcome from this situation, govt has taken a number initiatives to procure a number of oil tankers, bulk cargo vessels from china in the meantime . He also apprised that ECNEC has also approved the procurement of new vessels and final agreement with China is expected to be signed immediately.
The press meet was told that BSC owned 13 vessels in 2012-13 and out of these 10 vessels were sold out in auction in next two years in phases . Now BSC is running with only 3 vessels. Among others, Executive Director Md. Saidullah, secretary Md. Abdul Awal were present in the press meet among others.
