10 more killed in road crashes

At least 10 more persons were killed and 20 others critically injured in separate road crashes across the country on Wednesday.
In Cumilla, at least three pedestrians were killed when a covered van hit them in Kutumbopur area in Chandina upazila of the district.
The deceased were identified as Kazi Rafiqul Islam, 60, Mohron Ali, 75, and Abdul Matin, 65. All of them were residents of Uttarpara Kutumbopur village in the upazila.
The accident occurred at 10:00am when Dhaka-bound covered van ploughed into the pedestrians on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway as its driver lost control on the steering, leaving the trio dead on the spot.
Monirul Islam, in Charge of Iliotganj Highway police outpost confirmed the matter to media that police seized the covered van and detained its driver Dudu Miah, hailing from Satkania upazila of Chattogram.
In Narayanganj, at least two passengers were killed and five others seriously injured when a bus rammed an easy bike (3-wheeler) in Fatullah town of the district on Wednesday.
The accident occurred on the Dhaka-Narayanganj road around 10:30 am.
The deceased were identified as Awal, 50, son of late Mokhles Sheikh one of Aliganj area of Fatulla and Ali Hossain, 50.
Mainul Hossen, Sub-Inspector of Fatullah Model Police station said.
In Netrokona, at least two motorcyclists were killed in separate road crashes of the district on Tuesday night.
In Kenduya upazila, a motorcyclist named Moinul was killed when he lost his control at Shatpur Bazar of the upazila.
In Modon Upazila, another motorcyclist named Ebadul was killed after losing control at Baloinodi of the upazila.
Ramijul Haque, Officer in-Charge (OC) of Modon Police said.
In Brahmanbariya, a school boy named Jubayer, 9, was killed when a bus rammed him at Sholipur on the Cumilla-Sylhet Highway on Wednesday afternoon.
Ziaul Haque, Officer in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police told the matter to the media.
In Gopalganj, an unknown pedestrian was killed when a vehicl rammed him at Charpathalia under Sadar upazila of the district.
Ayub Ali, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sadar Police confirmed the news to the media.
In Gaibandha, an easy bike driver named Raja Miah,65, died and five others injured when a truck hit him in Polashbari Upazila of the district.
