Bangladesh on Thursday recorded highest number of deaths and infections from coronavirus in a day.
As many as 10 patients died of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.
This was the highest number of deaths due to Covid-19 in a day in the country.
With this, the death toll reached 60, said Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (administration) of DGHS in an online press briefing in Dhaka.
In last 24 hours, 341 people tested positive for Covid-19 across the country.
With the new cases, the total number of infected patients rolled to 1,572.
In the last 24 hours, 37 people across the country were put in isolation. A total of 461 people are in isolation.
A total of 4499 people were sent to home quarantine and 715 sent to institutional quarantine in the last 24 hours, she said.
A total 99,204 persons are in home quarantine now. While 3875 people are in institutional quarantine now.
Dr Nasima said that 2135 samples were collected and 2,019 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across the country, which is 16 percent more than the previous day.
She said, rest of the collected samples will be tested later.
The Additional Director said, that samples were being sent to 17 centers.
She said samples would be tested in 28 centers soon.
She said that six among the deceased were from Dhaka and rests are from other districts while three are female patients.
The Additional Director said that one of the deceased was between 71-80, five were between 61-70, three between 51-60 and one between 21-30 years old.
