At least 10 persons went missing after a tragic boat capsized in the Teesta River under Razarhat upazila of Kurigram on Sunday noon.
According to boatman, the boat with 30 passengers capsized when they were crossing the river from Kheya Ghat near Burirhart Embankment around 12pm.
Locals said that after the boat capsized , 20 people swam ashore but 10 others went missing.
Krishna Chandra Sarker, Officer-in-Charge of Razarhat Police Station confirmed the matter to the media that almost all passengers swam ashore, but 10 others went missing.
Md Rashedul Haque, UNO of Rajarhat told that it was really a pathetic event. Kurigram Fire Service team started to rescue the missing persons.Even the Rangpur Fire Service team was requested to help.
We have already deployed the police in the spot, UNO added.
